Straight out of Seattle comes the announcement of a new album from post-rock experimentalists Kinski. It's been two years since we last heard from the band with their much celebrated Alpine Static, and it turns out the band has been fiendishly working on new material.
It was recorded produced by Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Boris) in Seattle at Aleph Studio. Randall and the group created a heady mix of sonic, droney, upbeat music that lives up to the Kinski name and forges out in a few new directions, namely songs with vocals.
There's still the organic, analog goodness that's always a part of Kinski's sound, but this time there's more of an element of song construction to go along with Kinski's patented deconstruction. Dare I say an occasional pop leaning? I do.
The album comes out on August 21st via Sub Pop Records. It will be distributed with three different versions based on packaging color. In the meantime, check out the MP3 of Punching Goodbye Out Front:
