Canadian collective / label Arts and Crafts recently released a Young Galaxy 7" and EP titled Swing Your Heartache. Young Galaxy is the project of former Stars guitarist Stephen Ramsay and Catherine McCandless.
“We tried to choose songs that represent the album’s range of feeling and sound – the relationship of heights to lows, the bittersweet, the hearts of contradiction. The third song is The Golden Coin, a song written and recorded during a 2003 Vancouver-based recording session where we began trying to find our way into our call,” said the band in a press release.
There's a full length album on tap for the Spring of 2007, and the band is currently touring around with fellow Canadians and A&C cohorts the Dears; they're rounding out their touring line-up with Pat Sayers, Stephen Kamp and Susan Beckett. The as of yet untitled album was recorded at Montreal's Breakglass Studio with Producer (and almost band member) Jace Lasek.
Arts & Crafts representatives say that a lot is still being worked out on the album, but more details will be available in 2007. In the meantime, you can fill your headphones with the Swing Your Heartache EP. More adventurous sonicians can go for the 7" custom clear 130-gram vinyl version.
