Before Bright Eyes, before Creighton Prep (and maybe before Conor Oberst) there was Commander Venus. It was a mid-nineties thing... very punkish and raw sounding. Loud guitars, fast, edgy -- kind of like what would happen if you started a band after listening to a lot of Descendents and Dead Kenedys albums.
And now you too, Spacelab reader, can experience the onslaught that is Commander Venus. It's being reissued by Windup Records along with their Wrens reissue, saying “The music is too important to keep in some vault.” Good for Conor Oberst diehards that are looking for back catalogue sounds.
